Police Training [PTO]

Welcome to the Training Division at RubyPD! Here, we take care of all new recruits and the whole training process. Below is a more detailed explanation of what we do here, and how we help build the future of our force!

PTOs [Police Training Officers]

We have a dedicated team of hard-working, confident and friendly officers that dedicate their time to training up new cadets from our force.

PTOs help cadets and teach them the basics of police-work through their initial training session, which has both theory and field training sections.
Our PTOs then check, grade and give feedback on cadet's exams, and if they pass shooting them through onto our Ride-Along Cadet stage!

FTOs [Field Training Officers]

We also have a selection of officers who kindly volunteer to help RA Cadets learn they way in the real world! FTOs are officers that are first to take RA Cadets on their ride-alongs, where they help, guide our cadets. However, if an FTO isn't available, any one of our officers can take a cadet.

After a ride-along, the ride-along officer submits a cadet report, outlining what the cadet needs to improve on, and what went well. This is so the next ride-along officer can tailor their help to the cadet's needs - helping them become the best they can!

FTOs also read all RA reports, and give opinions on when our RA Cadets have improved and learnt enough to be given the privilege of the promotion to officer. FTOs have increased input and communication with Commandants and Uber Command on deciding when Ride-Along Cadets are ready to get their promotions.

Joining the Division

Our PTOs are handpicked based on confidence, trust, and attitudes that PTO Command members spot out on patrol.
